Doctors of Chiropractic are physicians with extensive education. Many would be surprised to learn of the breadth of classes Chiropractic students are required to take. The following list gives a sample of the usual course of studies that Chiropractors must pass in order to graduate. Many of these topics are taken in a series of trimesters (as a part one, part two, part three) equaling a year or more for those particular topics. In addition, more than a year of internships are required prior to graduation. In order to be eligible for licensing Chiropractors must take a series of four rigorous national boards, a physiotherapy board, and if they want to practice Acupuncture in Missouri and many other states, must take a rigorous Acupuncture national board. After obtaining a Chiropractic license, Chiropractors must take a set minimum number of continuing education hours every year in specified topics in order to maintain their licenses.
